I'm really glad you dropped by. Remember to bookmark
this site.
It's been over 2 years since I started this website.
I still have many ideas that I want implemented, and I am working
diligently to bring those about on a weekly basis.
I will continue to share many of my favorite subjects with you.
I love to dance, travel,
dine out
& exercise my body & mind, so I have pages dedicated to these
topics. If you have any suggestions for fun & exciting activities, please
contact me anytime.
Feel free to connect with me through
Twitter and
Face Book. I am also revamping the
Tofu Alan Blog where you
can contribute your comments and ideas with other like-minded
people. I have a few new projects in operation. See
Skincerity® &Blastoff Buzz for more
information.
The Weather? How about whatever I feel like ranting or chatting about for
the moment?
Wow! These past 2 months have been super busy.
I've been taking a "Leadership Class Series" which has
giving me an amazing perspective on my role as a leader in
my community.
The first class I took was called "Possibility of
Leadership" at the end of January. This weekend experience
was a birthday present from my business & life mentor. It
was the BEST present I could have received. =)
I was offered the possibility that I always have the
opportunity to bring value to the table. Although, this
isn't a new idea, it was offered in such a way that I got it
& it made an impression on me.
I decided to enroll myself in the next class series which
is a 90-day program consisting of 3 intense weekend sessions
(1 per month) and weekly personal & group coaching calls. I
am currently in the latter third if the class with my last
weekend class coming up on Mother's Day Weekend.
These current series of classes is specifically focused
on setting intentions & declarations, (what most people
would call "Goals"). I must say, it's amazing what one can
accomplish when focused on a specific task. These last few
months have been magical.
I'm not sure why today is SO exciting for me. Maybe it's
because I had such a great night last night. We had the
FIRST "Burrito Project South Pasadena"
this year. We will NOW continue to meet for the rest of the
year & host this event on the 3rd Thursday of EVERY month.
If you happen to be in the Pasadena area, I hope you drop in
to lend a hand.
I am also teaching a beginning/intermediate
Salsa Dance Class at the newest
Salsa Club in the San Gabriel Valley on Wednesday nights at
"3 Vino's Restaurant".
The lesson is FREE with your meal and/or drink purchase.
Otherwise, the class is only $10. The lesson starts at
8:30pm and the DJ will start spinning his salsa tunes
immediately after class. "3
Vino's Restaurant" is a great place to hang out,
practice your dance moves & dance with some amazing dancers.
See you on the dance floor.
Wow! I'm excited about ALL the activities coming up in
the next few months. It's time to start working out. Here we
go!
One last thing. I'm also planning a dinner party. Should
I do an "Ethiopian Dinner" or "Indian Dinner" first? I'll
start taking a poll & keep you posted on my next writing. =)
This video shows the winner of "Ukraine’s
Got Talent", Kseniya Simonova, 24, drawing a series of
pictures on an illuminated sand table showing how ordinary people
were affected by the German invasion during World War II. Her
talent, which admittedly is a strange one, is mesmeric to watch.
The images, projected onto a large screen, moved many in the
audience to tears and she won the top prize of about £75,000.
She begins by creating a scene showing a couple sitting holding
hands on a bench under a starry sky, but then warplanes appear and
the happy scene is obliterated.
It is replaced by a woman’s face crying, but then a baby arrives and
the woman smiles again. Once again war returns and Miss Simonova
throws the sand into chaos from which a young woman’s face appears. She
quickly becomes an old widow, her face wrinkled and sad, before the
image turns into a monument to an Unknown Soldier.
This outdoor scene becomes framed by a window as if the viewer is
looking out on the monument from within a house. In the final scene, a mother and child appear inside and a man
standing outside, with his hands pressed against the glass, saying
goodbye.
The Great Patriotic War, as it is called in Ukraine, resulted in one
in four of the population being killed with eight to 11 million
deaths out of a population of 42 million.
Kseniya Simonova says: "I find it difficult enough to create art using paper and pencils
or paintbrushes, but using sand and fingers is beyond me. The art,
especially when the war is used as the subject matter, even brings
some audience members to tears. And there’s surely no bigger
compliment."
