What is the Burrito Project?
I first heard of the "Burrito Project" from my buddy,
Anthony. He was dropping off a few cases of
Nakhon Beer
to share with some of the volunteers at an "undisclosed location" in
Silverlake. I like burritos, so I decided to ride along with him to
check out this "event" with the interesting name.
We arrived at a cozy home & were greeted by friendly faces. As
most people do at ANY house party, people started congregating in
the kitchen. We washed our hands & donned plastic gloves & started
assembling burritos from the myriad ingredients which were set up on
a long table which spanned the center of the kitchen. It became an
burrito making assembly line which would have made Henry Ford proud.
To be honest, I'd never really made a burrito before, but soon
the "veteran burrito makers" started showing the "newbies" like me
how it was done. We were all having a blast chatting & getting to
know each other. Before I knew it, we were scraping the last of the
rice, beans & other ingredients into the final burrito.
About 150 burritos were wrapped up in foil and packed into
recyclable shopping bags just waiting to be delivered to the
homeless in Downtown LA. After toasting the "Burrito Project"
volunteers with a
Nakhon Beer,
I was invited to join the group to make the delivery in person
to the hungry homeless of Los Angeles. I was intrigued, so of course
I said yes (on the condition I could carpool with someone). We all
jumped into various vehicles & caravanned to the designated meeting
point in Downtown LA.

I look forward to working with you & making a difference in the world,
