The Big Picture
To
succeed in life, we have to understand the big picture. The big
picture is that our purpose as human beings is to create and express
all that we can in life, and to grow into our highest potential.
Whenever we feel stuck or hampered in any way, we may be taking the
small view of life or looking at just a tiny part of the whole
panorama.
If we don't hold the big picture before us as we go through life, we
don't draw from its energy and its power... and we may actually find
ourselves engaged in activities that are counterproductive.
A manufacturing company with which I worked had an assembly line
where people made telephones. At one end of the line, they made one
small component for the phone that later became part of the complete
instrument. They realized that they could save time producing their
small piece of the phone by connecting one wire in a different way.
They thought they were doing themselves and the company a big favor,
but changing that one step fouled up work at the other end of the
line. The result was lost time and a substandard telephone. They
didn't understand the big picture... so in trying to expedite the
process, they actually did a great deal of harm.
When we work within the big picture, we can't help but succeed.
