Quite a few years ago, I was invited to a birthday dinner. We were headed to Ed Debevic's Restaurant on La Cienaga Boulevard. To our chagrin, when we pulled up to Ed Debevic's parking lot, we found out it was closed. I remembered passing The Stinking Rose a few few blocks before, so I suggested we move the party to The Stinking Rose. It was the best decision ever.

This is a restaurant for garlic lovers. The Stinking Rose jests that they "season their garlic with food". I'd say 95% of the menu has garlic as an ingredient. They even have Garlic Wine, Garlic Martinis & Garlic Ice Cream.

Be sure to try the Bagna Calda as an appetizer. It's a iron skillet filled with oven roasted garlic cloves bathed in olive oil. Spread it like butter onto the house focaccia bread. It's absolutely tantalizing. So much so, you'll need another taste, and another... and another... If you're daring, sample the garlic relish. (It can usually be found on your table). I tend to alternate between both the garlic relish and the bagna calda as I sip my wine and await my order. Sometimes, I even put both on my focaccia. (Boy, can I be a rebel).

I recommend meeting your best friends for a meal here. You'll have a scrumptious Garlic laden experience (and they can't make fun of you for smelling like garlic). I love organizing large dinner parties at The Stinking Rose. This is also a great place for a romantic meal with that special person. Mmmmm... Garlic breath.

If you're not fond of garlic, you can choose a dish with a vampire next to it. If you're a vegetarian, choose an item with a red tomato next to the entree.
