The Vegetarian Wok was my first experience
with "mock" meats. I had just started down the road of vegetarianism
and was looking into exploring some new local restaurants. I had
located the address of the restaurant which I had jotted down from
the phone book.
They now have a new location, but when I walked in
their original building I was dumbfounded. I was staring at a Korean
BBQ Restaurant. What I didn't know was that there were 2 restaurants
in the same building and the Vegetarian Wok seemed to be
tucked to the left side with a hidden entrance.
When I opened up the menu, I had doubts I was in a
Vegetarian Restaurant. It looked like a regular Chinese Food Menu.
There were items like General Tso's Chicken & Beef and
Broccoli. I was put at ease by a Buddhist Monk who was also
dining there for lunch. He assured me that everything was fake meat
and it was very tasty.
I was pleasantly surprised, and the Vegetarian
Wok soon became one of my favorite restaurants to dine at with
family and friends.
They are now located in a shopping center on the
ground floor in the corner adjacent to a yummy Asian bakery. They
have plenty of tables and a friendly staff. If you're looking for a
bargain, visit them during the weekdays and take advantage of their
great lunch specials.
Be sure to order the Fried Chicken Tenders &
the General Tso's Chicken. The bread is also really tasty. It
comes fried or steamed. I recommend trying both to decide which one
you prefer.
When planning a visit to the Vegetarian Wok,
be aware that they close between the hours of 3pm-5pm.
